Lannie Applies Hospitality Training to Cleaning To Bring Happiness in Workplaces

Prior to arriving in Australia Lanwen Teng, Lannie as we know her, worked as a hospitality teacher at Hebei Teachers’ University in China for eleven years. Lannie assisted students with work placements, integrating them into the workforce. During this time Lannie also studied to be a Chef and did her apprenticeship.

In 2009 Lannie and her family emigrated to Australia upon which Lannie obtained a Diploma in Hospitality cum Patisserie Chef from Tafe. From 2011 to 2016 she worked as a Housekeeping Supervisor while doing commercial cleaning on a casual basis for a friend in Brisbane, QLD. In 2017, with the encouragement from a friend, Lannie evaluated the options to take a cleaning franchise and decided to to go with AMC Commercial Cleaning. Her husband Haiyang also joined her in the business.

With a 16 year old daughter Danielle in Year 11, Lannie and Haiyang get on with their business of cleaning. Lannie says she enjoys transforming a messy workplace into something beautiful. Her motivation comes from good feedback from her clients.

“I enjoy good feedback which is central to my activities and task. (It) Makes you feel part of the family. I treat a client’s workspace as my own home. I like to make the workplace clean. I think that will make them work better. Clients are so kind to me. They are like my friends or family”.

Lannie’s clients indeed are very happy with her work. Brooke Armstrong from Blue Star Pacific Pty Ltd says,

“ Lannie is amazing to work with, she is always so polite and so sweet. She often leaves notes in the communications book saying, ‘Thank you for your kindness, I am so grateful to have you as my client’. She leaves us Christmas presents and lovely positive messages like ‘hope you have a wonderful spring’ these are just a few of the many nice messages. If there is ever something that is missed and put into the communications book, she is always very apologetic and gets on to things straight away to sort them out. She is just a wonderful, kind, sweet person and very good at her job”

During her leisure time in typical Lannie fashion, she enjoys cleaning her house! She relaxes listening to audio books. Her daily goal is  to provide a clean and tidy place for her customers, like her own home, “so that it is welcoming for staff to come to work. Something I’ve always learnt from my hospitality training” says Lannie.
