CEO Message for National Reconciliation Week - AMC Commercial Cleaning

CEO Message for National Reconciliation Week

National Reconciliation Week 2023 – May 27th to June 3rd

As a company, AMC has embarked on a journey on the development of our Reconciliation Action Plan. We acknowledge reconciliation is an ongoing journey, and we all have a vital role to play in reconciliation. Playing our part, we collectively build relationships that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s history cultures and future.

As we begin National Reconciliation Week, I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the importance of reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.

This year’s theme, ‘Be a voice for generations”reminds us that reconciliation requires active and ongoing efforts. As a business, we must continue to educate ourselves, show respect, and support reconciliation efforts in our communities and workplace.

Our organisation acknowledges and values the richness and diversity of the First Nations people’s culture and heritage. As a responsible business, we recognise our role in creating an environment that fosters inclusivity, respect, and equality.

This year we welcomed three first nation citizens within our team. They are:

Naomi Prior, Advisor to the Executive Board on Reconciliation Action Plan.

Naomi Prior is a descendant of the Birri – Gubba people from North Queensland and has grown up and lives on the lands of the Boonwurrung/Bunurong people. Naomi has 20 years’ experience working directly with Aboriginal people and with businesses who actively support and engage with local Aboriginal communities.

“As the Advisor for AMC Commercial Cleaning on the Reconciliation Action Plan, I am excited to see their journey on actively seeking opportunities to work along and partner with Indigenous and Torres Island organisations and communities. In the 30 + year history of AMC, they have already stepped forward and embraced many genuine initiatives whereby they engage, collaborate, facilitate and enable marginalised communities in meaningful ways. Whether big or small, every step taken with the right intention will make the difference towards our goals for reconciliation”.

Kadisha Hawes-Manukau, Key Account Manager

Kadisha Hawes-Manukau brings with her 9+years of experience in Sales, Service Coordination and Account Management. In this role, Kadisha works closely with AMC’s State Operation Managers and Customer Service Managers across different states to take care of some of our key national customers.

Kadisha grew up in Ngiyambaa Country in central-west NSW and finished high school on Dharug Country in Sydney. She volunteers as a Support Worker for Red Dust in remote Indigenous communities. She believes that “The most important things in life are the connections you make with others, and I’m so fortunate it is a part of what I do in my day-to-day role.”

Teagan Hawes-Manukau, Customer Service Manager, QLD

As part of her role, Teagan is responsible for managing the cleaning service and customer relationship at a local level. She ensures we deliver high quality service and meet the high standards expected by the customer.

Teagan grew up in Ngiyambaa Country in central-west NSW and attended high school on Dharug Country in Sydney. Teagan says “Family is everything to me, I carry my family values in to everything I do.”

We understand that reconciliation is not just a buzzword or a ceremonial event; it is a commitment of actions towards healing and acknowledging the past while looking forward to building a better future together.

This week and beyond, let us take meaningful steps to honour and celebrate First Nations culture, promote understanding and reconciliation, and work towards a fairer, more equitable Australia and I encourage you to take part in registered events in your local area.

Sincerely,

Kristie CoadeKristie Coade, CEO, AMC Commercial Cleaning
