AMC Commercial Cleaning Provides Critical COVID Training for Border Reopening of Norfolk Island

Thursday, March 24th, 2022

When Norfolk Island closed its borders to control the outbreak of COVID-19 in January, an urgent call was sent out by the Government for assistance on bridging a capability gap for specialised skills in cleaning and disinfection.

A team of experts from AMC Commercial Cleaning were chosen to evaluate the logistical options and put together a plan immediately.

Referring to AMC’s response, Shane Fletcher from the Commonwealth Department of Infrastructure said, “AMC was able to immediately respond by deploying competent staff to Norfolk Island for two weeks and provide agreed training outcomes to 70 cleaners from local government and private business enterprises.

He went on to say, “The training has enabled the community to exercise the best practices required to effectively control risks related to routine or deep cleaning during an increase period of COVID risk.

The Department and NIRC were grateful to AMC for the professional, comprehensive and prompt delivery of all agreed COVID19 training outcomes delivered while they were on Norfolk Island”

Over a two (2) week period, AMC conducted multiple training sessions to council members, employees of hotels, tourism trade, hospitality and local business traders.

Special training was provided for health workers including nursing staff. The AMC team were hands-on during this period, conducting onsite supervision for multiple COVID-19 contamination cleans carried out at various utility services and places of accommodation in the island.

“We are extremely proud that the Australian government’s Department of Infrastructure recognised our capabilities and entrusted us with this significant task in Norfolk Island”, said Kristie Coade, CEO of AMC.

This specialised cleaning programme conducted by AMC Commercial Cleaning was a critical enabler for the reopening of borders of Norfolk Island which occurred on 27 January.

The End.
